Welcome to Mike Hannisian's website

Mike has been a Professor of English, a civil trial lawyer, the executive director of a non-profit organization, and a high school math teacher. (He readily admits he does not know what he wants to do when he grows up.) Mike also has been a naturalist since 1970 when he first traveled to the Rockies, and a photographer since the late 1960s. For many years Mike has taught birding workshops, led and organized national and international birding tours, and has more recently begun teaching photography courses. He is an Associate Naturalist of the New Jersey Audubon Society’s Cape May Bird Observatory (CMBO), writes and photographs for various local, state, and national publications, is a charter member of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter Texas Master Naturalists, is a Certified Interpretive Guide, and was Resident Naturalist at Indian Ridge B&B in Mission, Texas. Finally, Mike has had a total of 10 winning images in the last two Valley Land Fund’s biannual Wildlife Photography Contests, and won Best of Contest in the 2008 South Texas Shootout Division. Recently, Mike has returned to New Jersey and now lives in Cape May County, one of the best natural history venues in North America.
